Composition of Fused Cast Mullite Bricks

Fused mullite generally includes high purity fused mullite and ordinary fused mullite. Compared with sintered fused mullite, fused mullite has coarse crystals of 1000 zu 2000. high-purity fused mullite is light gray, and ordinary fused mullite is dark gray (bauxite is the main raw material).

Fused Cast Mullite Bricks are made of high alumina isotopes, composed of different alumina (3AL203.2Si02 mass fraction of AL2O372% and Si0228%). It is melted at about 2300°C and cast in a sand mold at 1850°C, then annealed to relieve stress.
The main crystalline phase is mullite and corundum, and the glass phase is filled between the crystalline phases. It is more resistant to glass liquid erosion than sintered refractories, but not as good as other electrofused refractories.
Adding a small amount of dioxygen (7%-8.5%) can make mullite crystals smaller, brick organization dense, mullite amount increased to 60%-70%, relatively reduce the glass phase content, reduce product cracks. Fused Cast Mullite Bricks have a low coefficient of thermal expansion, good resistance to thermal vibration, and strong resistance to glass liquid erosion.

Above 1450 ℃, mullite brick should not contact with alkali substances, otherwise it will make mullite decomposition. Mullite will also decompose in the reducing atmosphere above 1370℃, and part of Si02 becomes gaseous SiO to leave the brick body.
When the temperature is higher than 1650°C, even if the atmosphere is not restored, the mullite will decompose at a lower partial pressure of oxygen.
